Group Assignment: The Tool


So for my part I was in charge of Food and Wastes for McDonalds. We based our tool off the Green Star framework but altered it slightly.

I based some of these of the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) that is based in the UK. They have recently gone global with their rating tool, and have plenty of scope across the UK and are getting further into a global market.

I found that they had gained strong recognition because of their partnerships with organisations such as Fairtrade Coffee and RSPCA, which ensured that they were justifiable and gained significant traction in the restaurant world.

We made sure our tool was very thorough and in-depth, which we could do because we had specifically chosen McDonalds.

We described the tool and it's basis for the presentation, with Scott presenting, and managed to convey all of our points very efficiently. I think being able to connect in the Moodle forum helped our group significantly, because email and Facebook can be very unreliable. We were the only group that capitalised on the group forum which made things easier.
